Hiking on Great Wall of China. Stay in Beijing. |
Day 04 (DEC 16) |
Visit Forbidden City, Tian an men Square and Beijing’s 798 art district. Tour Bird’s nest and Water cube Olympic Stadiums. Overnight train to Xi’an. |
Day 05 (DEC 17) |
Visit Banpo (6000-year old village site). Visit local cave house farmer family. Then visit the eighth wonder in the world, The Terra Cotta Warriors Museum. Stay in Xi’an. |
Day 06 (DEC 18) |
Biking on the top of 600-years old Ancient City wall. Visit Han Dynasty Museum. Visit Muslim street. Train to Chengdu. |
Day 07 (DEC 19) |
Travel to Beichuan County, China. Visit earthquake memorial site and Mao’ershi ethnic village. Stay in countryside. |
Day 08 (DEC 20) |
Volunteer at Ya’an panda preserve. Stay in countryside. |
Day 09 (DEC 21) |
Travel from Schiuan Province to Yunnan province (flight from Chengdu to Lijiang) Stay in Lijiang local-minority-style hotel. Free time to visit Ancient town in the evening. |
Day 10 (DEC 22) |
Take cable car up to Yulong Xue Shan (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain). Hike on the mountain glacier. Visit Ganhai Zi, Baishui river. Stay in Lijiang. |
Day 11 (DEC 23) |
Geology field trip via bus from Lijiang to Shangri-La. On the way visit Tiger Leaping Gorge and Chongshui hydroelectric dam.
Arrive in Shangr-iLa.
Visit Songzanlin Tibetan Buddhist Monastary and Napahai Grassland. Free time in the evening to walk around in the Moon ancient town. Stay in Shangri-La. |
Day 12 (DEC 24) |
Geologic Field excursion in the Shangr-La region to see ancient oceanic crust. Stay in Shangri-La. |
Day 13 (DEC 25) |
Geology field trip via bus from Shangri-La to Dali. Stay in local Bai-minority style building inside the Dali ancient town. Celebrate Christmas in Dali ancient town. |
Day 14 (DEC 26) |
Free time to explore Dali. Boat ride on Er Hai Lake. Stay inside Dali ancient town. |
Day 15 (DEC 27) |
Whole day for Geology hiking on Cangshan mountains. Stay inside Dali ancient town. |
Day 16 (DEC 28) |
Travel by bus from Dali to Shilin (Stone Forrest). Enjoy Yiliang roast duck on the way to Shilin. Stay in Shilin. |
Day 17 (DEC 29) |
Spend the whole day exploring the geology of Shilin. Take evening train from Kunming to Guilin. Sleep on the train. |
Day 18 (DEC 30) |
Arrive in Guilin. Visit Elephant trunk mountain. Stay in Guilin. |
Day 19 (DEC 31) |
Cruise to Yangshuo down Li river.Visit Crown cave. Stay in Yangshuo. |
Day 20 (JAN 1) |
Explore the Karst countryside via bicycles for the whole day, including silver cave. Stay in Yangshuo. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Yangshuo. |
Day 21 (JAN 2) |
Bus back to Guilin. Take train to Yingtan. Sleep on the train. |
Day 22 (JAN 3) |
Arrive in Yingtan. Take bus to Wuyishan. Go hiking in mountains. Sample world famous Wuyi Tea. Stay in Wuyishan. |
Day 23 (JAN 4) |
Go rafting on nine-bends stream. Hike to Hall of Three Sages. Overnight train to Shanghai. |
Day 24 (JAN 5) |
Arrive Shanghai in morning. Free time in Shanghai. (Suggested optional activities include YuYuan Garden, Nanjing Road and/or boat ride on the Huangpu River.) Farewell banquet. Stay in Shanghai. |
Day 25 (JAN 6) |
Ride bullet train to airport. Fly back to The United States. |
